I’m in Flori-duh chillin with my mom Joy Cessna Schumacher and going through my archives and basically realizing how crazy it is to be on the 30th rewind of my life as I know it. It’s kinda strange that I don’t work in the fashion world any…more after starting at age 12 and officially “retiring” in 2006 to concentrate on becoming a, pardon the expression, “artist” lol. My last shoot was with Mike Ruiz for Paper Magazine and I literally realized half-way through the shoot that I would never style another fashion photograph again and I was SO okay with that. I grew up on 7th Ave and it will always be in my DNA, but I kinda dig where my life has taken me now. My next book was going to be a futuristic sci-fy novel, but after a week digging through 35 years worth of memories I’ve decided to write about what it was like being a kid in the fashion world. Since i haven’t managed to kill myself through years of self abuse & addiction, I think it’s time to celebrate & recollect on the blessings & beauty that life has actually given me. Don’tcha think? ;) Mario Testino & Walter S. Area NYC 1984
